“Papa, may I buy a pair of new shoes?” “I’ll do extra chores!” She asked, but he always denied her.
Papa could be a bit of a mean one, and he always seemed to prefer the eldest daughter, Wilma above the other children. For some reason, Mildred, the youngest, just couldn’t get Papa to understand when it came to her basic needs. Mildred was in dire need of shoes; hers had holes in the soles and were entirely worn out, and it was embarrassing.
When Wilma heard of the situation, she took advantage of her privileged position and asked her Papa for new shoes. Of course he took her to buy them. Little did he know that she got shoes that were two sizes too small for her. Limping home, she had a smile on her face, knowing that Mildred would get the shoes that she so desperately needed. After all these darn shoes that were just too tight!
The photos and stories are synchronized. To preserve personal history, my hope is that the anonymous photo and story from a different family will keep the stories of our past vibrant and not these folks to fade away. (This story is actually one from my own family, names & photo have been changed)
