Nothing to say . . .

I Have No Family History

No story

It is interesting to ask people about their family memories. Many say, “I don’t have a story to tell.” or “I don’t know of any.” Funny thing is, there is always a story . . . maybe it is too just too painful to tell? Your story may be, not having one.

“I don’t know where my parents came from, but they moved to America during the war. No one ever told me what country we came from. My Daddy was a drunk. He used to beat on my Mama. He would disappear for months at a time, and then one day, he never came back. Was he in jail? Did he die? I just don’t know.”

“My brother and sister left in the same way . . . they simply left. They disappeared.

I don’t know where they went and never saw them again. I didn’t have a very happy childhood. I did have a cat though, her name was Sadie, come to think of it, Sadie was my best childhood friend.”

The photos and stories are synchronized. To preserve personal history, my hope is that the anonymous photo and story from a different family will keep the stories of our past vibrant and not these folks to fade away.
